  • Product Release Schedule for January –We have some major product offerings coming to market in January. Here is the update:
    • The new v10.3 is on track for release in January. If you are using the Sandbox or Community environments, you are already using v10.3 – it has been live for all of December.
    • In January, we are also releasing v1.2 of Project Portfolio Management – we are taking it to the next level with a solid PMO module and integration options for Microsoft Project (desktop) leveraging mature third-party tools.
    • Also, mid-January we will be taking the joint Fpweb.net-CorasWorks application platform in the cloud to market. We are already deploying customers in the pre-release environment. A couple of hot areas for the cloud offering are Extranets (stand-alone or integrated with your Intranet) and an externally focused project environment leveraging the CW PPM.

Apps
  • Idea Hub (by Future Structure) – FS has come out with a cool app that they’ve made free to the CorasWorks community. The Idea Hub is the first app of FS’s new collaborative hub design. It is a simple and powerful app. You enter Ideas. You can create and relate a whole bunch of different types of items (comments, tasks, meetings, documents, etc) to the idea. And, you can push emails out that drive people back to the “hub” to collaborate. You can now have a single place, for many ideas and all related content, integrated to people via email – yes, a collaborative hub for ideas. (Runs On: Suite or AppEngine; Price: Free)
  • Sales Activity Manager (by The ODKM Group) – ODKM has joined the CorasWorks App Publisher family with the release of Sales Activity Manager. Finally, the SharePoint community has an off-the-shelf, supported, and customizable app for sales activity. Along with a solid structure for the sales process and robust reporting, it supports collaborative work with proposals and contracts. The app is targeted for small sales forces, say 2-20 reps. It is particularly effective in Business Services/Professional Services companies that are less transactional, work many opportunities per account, have a smaller number of product/service offerings, and create proposals and contracts for sales. And, there is no user license – one price – so everyone can connect and leverage it. (Runs On: Suite or AppEngine; Price: $750).
  • R3 Rolls out v2 of Business Process Apps – R3 Business Solutions has launched the first of its v2 generation Business Process apps. They’ve released v2 of Time Off Management and Budget Change Request Management. An important new feature of the v2 series is the use of Snaplets to distribute app functionality (see Blog below). For instance, you may install TOM in the HR dept, but, you want end-users to be able to see, contribute and act on their requests in their own departments. Snaplets provide the solution; centrally configurable and easy to deploy. They have also implemented a very easy Click to Approve process driven by email – great for reviewers/approvers. Contact R3 for upgrades for v1 versions. (Runs on: Suite or AppEngine; Price: $1,500/app).
  • Conference Room Scheduler (by Crucial Systems) – The Conference Room Scheduler is Crucial’s first CW app. They are a CorasWorks/SharePoint services firm turned app publisher based out of Tennessee and work with our customers in the Southeast. The app provides a very simple and effective way to manage scheduling of conference rooms (or any other type of shared resource) – and it is Free to the CorasWorks Community. (Runs On: Suite or AppEngine, Price: Free)

Resources
  • New Web Based Training Modules and Videos – We’ve added structured Web Based Training (WBT) to the Resources section of the Community. There are 5 WBT modules with 23 videos. They target a “builder” using the Workplace Suite v10. Go to the Video Library resource (make sure to log in) and select the view (in the upper left hand corner of the display) named Video Library – by Training Module . The modules are:
    • WBT – 01 Introduction to Workplace Suite v10 (6 videos)
    • WBT – 02 Data Displays General (4 videos)
    • WBT – 03 Using the Display Wizard (8 videos)
    • WBT – 04 Calendar Displays (4 videos)
    • WBT – 05 Chart Displays (1 video)
Most of the videos in each module have a short quiz at the end to test what you learned – good luck earning your gold star!

Blogs
  • PPM: Thinking Outside of the Box (William’s Blog) – We are seeing strong adoption of the CW PPM. It is a great solution off-the-shelf. In this article, we take you to the next level, and talk about 10 outside-of-the-box ways that you can enhance and leverage PPM that may not have occurred to you.
  • Distributing Application Functionality with Snaplets (William's Blog) – Snaplets are being used more and more because they increase the business value of apps by making them more convenient for users to use. This article and supporting 3 videos provides an overview of the business value of Snaplets, how you go about distributing them, and how to centrally customize them. We show Snaplets from the CW Help Desk and R3 Time Off Management App and our Business Links Central Resource.
